Sheriff John R. Charboneau​ 

The Emergency Communication Officer position receives emergency and non-emergency calls, dispatch calls for service for Law Enforcement, Animal Control, Fire and Rescue and run traffic and criminal history queries. The Emergency Communications Officer is also responsible for data entry and Emergency Medical Dispatching.


Qualifications: Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, have a valid Driver’s License, have a High School Diploma or equivalent and complete a Basic Dispatch Course, VCIN/NCIC certification and Emergency Medical Dispatch certification within a year. Applicant must have good written/oral skills, must have knowledge of multiple software programs and have proficient typing skills. Applicants will work varied shifts to include nights, weekends and holidays. 

Salary: $10.00 to $15.00 an hour, depending on experience. Applicants will work 29 hours maximum per week.

The King & Queen County Sheriff’s Office is seeking an individual to perform law enforcement duties, including investigating crimes, answering citizen complaints, making arrests, interviewing witnesses, collecting evidence, serving civil papers, providing court testimony, executing search warrants, performing evictions and other related duties. This position possibly could be a School Resource Officer position.


Qualifications: Applicants must be at least 21 years of age, have a valid Driver’s License, have a high school diploma or equivalent and DCJS law enforcement certified is preferred, however certified and non-certified applications will be accepted. Applicants must have good oral and written communication skills and be able to work under stressful, high risk conditions. Applicants will work varied 12 hour shifts to include nights, weekends and holidays.

Salary: $30,000 to $38,686, depending on experience.
